History

Valley Rain, an Arizona Corporation, was founded in 1976 by Fred Dalzell as a commercial sprinkler installer and quickly grew as a dominant subcontractor on large public works projects including parks, freeways and golf courses. In 1989, after 12 years of earning an enduring reputation for quality and competitiveness in the green industry, Valley Rain expanded its service capabilities by adding experienced professionals in the civil and building areas. The resulting combination of civil, landscape, building and project management skills allowed Valley Rain to build its expertise in the general construction of public parks and athletic facilities while performing a majority of its work with its own forces. Adding to the ever-expanding list of completed parks, Valley Rain also gained experience in heavy engineering construction including mass grading, basins, levee construction and landfill liners.

In 1997 Valley Rain frequently landed on the front page of the local newspapers as it constructed the baseball field for Bank One Ballpark (Chase Field) for Maricopa County as one of seven prime contractors on the project, the host field for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In 2002 and 2003, after changes in the Arizona law for public procurement, Alternative Procurement was introduced to the construction scene, and Valley Rain was awarded the first CMAR park (Steele Indian School Park) and the first Design Build Park (Avondale Youth Sports Complex). As a result of Valley Rain’s excellent reputation and experience in park and recreation facility sites, Valley Rain has earned the reputation as a premier parks and recreation contractor in the state of Arizona. Our focus is on CMAR, Design-Build or JOC on public recreational sites.
